With heavy hearts, the family of Grace Hadikin of Ootischenia (Castlegar, BC) wishes to announce her passing, with her family by her side, on Friday, October 19, 2012, at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. She was blessed with 88 years of life.

Funeral Services will by officiated by Peter Zaytsoff at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, followed by interment in the Ootischenia Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Ootischenia Hall, following the burial.

Sadly, the family of Frederick James Jack of Castlegar wishes to announce his passing, with his family at his side, at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 14, 2012, blessed with 67 years of life.

Fred will always be remembered as the beloved DJ of radio station CKQR that covered the Kootenays in the late 60's and the early 70's. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife Violet (neé) Wishloff, sons Fred (Rebecca) and Chris (Pam), six grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather Dann Lebedoff, of Grand Forks, BC, who passed away on August 2, 2012, age 67. Dann was born in Nelson, B.C. on February 21, 1945. He leaves behind to mourn: his loving wife Olga; his daughter April and partner Steve Dickson; son Jeff and wife Olja; son Mark and partner Gaia Howe and her son Kyle, his granddaughter Ariana; his sister Stella Rilkoff; a niece, two nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral service, with Jerry Seminoff officiating, was held at the Grand Forks Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, with a luncheon at the U.S.C.C. Community Centre in Grand Forks. ANNE OGLOFF - Posted July 10, 2012

Anne Ogloff passed away peacefully on July 8, 2012 at Annesley Manor in Grand Forks, BC, age 82. Anne was born August 5, 1929 in Nelson BC, the youngest child of William and Mary Soukoroff. The family moved to Grand Forks where Anne met Peter Ogloff; they were married May 11, 1952, and lived in Grand Forks ever since. Anne was predeceased by her mother in 1981, father in 1991, brother Nick in 1999 and husband Peter in 2006. She is survived by two sons: Larry (Jacky) and Mike (Marita); two grandsons: Brian (Misty) and Daniel (Tanya); and two great grandchildren, Tessa and Lucas.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012, in the Chapel of the Grand Forks Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Sion Doukhobor Cemetery; Everett Baker of the Grand Forks Funeral Home in care of arrangements; Jerry Seminoff officiating.

Semenoff, Polly lived all her life in Grand Forks, where she married George W. Popoff; the marriage ended in 1960. She is predeceased by her parents; Alex and Annie Semenoff; sister Helen Plotnikoff; and the father of her children George Popoff. She leaves behind: her daughter Kathy (Wayne) Tblus with children, Darren and Lisa; her son Gary (Mekai), with children, Gabriel, Michael, Penny, and Catriona; and brothers, Paul (Jerry) Seminoff (Lorraine) and Alex Semenoff.

He was born on April 7, 1915, in Verigin, Sask., the youngest child in the family of John S. and Polly S. Chernoff, with three older sisters and two older brothers. William was predeceased by his parents, siblings and wife Mabel. He is survived by two sons, Billy and Lawrence, their families, and many other relatives and friends.

Born in Shoreacres October 29, 1928, Bill is survived by his wife Emma; son Bill (Cathy) Stoochnoff; daughters: Elaine (Steve) Malekow, Linda Stoochnoff, Violet Rilkoff, and Sandra (Ken) Konkin; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sister Nora (Sam) Kotyk; brother George (Helen) Stoochnoff; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was predeceased by his father John Stoochnoff in 1956 and his mother Annie in 1976.

A traditional Doukhobor funeral service will be held at the Shoreacres Community Hall on Friday, June15, 2012, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at the Shoreacres Doukhobor Cemetery. Pauline Strelioff passed away May 16, 2012 at Hardy View Lodge, Grand Forks, BC. Born June 11, 1918 in Veregin, Sask, she would have been 94 years old next month. Pauline is now joyfully reunited with her dear husband Nick, who predeceased her in 1993; as well as her parents, Dora and Samuel Stralaeff; brother, Alex; sisters, Norma and Mary; and her niece, Lorrie Dennison. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Little (Howard) of Grand Forks; her son, Leonard Archer (Louise) of Hong Kong; six grandchildren: Tabitha and Melanie Gibson, Justin, Ryan, Adam and Stacy Archer; and seven great-grandchildren: Alexis, Rachelle, Jeffrey, Taylor, Nicholas, Andrea and Danny.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Grand Forks Funeral Home; burial to follow at the Sion Doukhobor Cemetery. Everett Baker of Grand Forks Funeral Home was entrusted with funeral arrangements.

Born June 15, 1913 in Glade BC, to Alexander and Polly Dutoff, Peter spent most of his life in the Boundary area of BC. He is predeceased by his parents and loving wife Pauline, and many other relatives. Peter will be missed very much by his daughters: Molly Nazar, Luba (Doug) White and Olga (Halvor) Carlson; his grandchildren: Raymond (Karen), Tamara (Jim), Sherry, Chris, Rhea (Renn) and Alyssa; three great-grandchildren: Ryan, Tasha and Brendan; his sister Vera and brothers Nick and Fred (Tina), nephews Alec (Doris), Michael (Lou), Fred (Pearl) and Harvey (Judy) and a niece, Katie (Peter), and many other loved ones and good friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Polly Popoff; his wife Vera; his brothers Peter, Nick, Jack, Joe, and Bill; his sister Mary, and his nephew Dick Popoff. He leaves to mourn: his son Gordon, his son Jim (LeeAnn), his daughter Elvera Laird (Brad), his grandchildren Logan and Hana Popoff, Kyle and Taya Laird, one sister Polly Popoff, one uncle William M. Popoff, and many other relatives.

A two day traditional Doukhobor funeral service will be held at the USCC Community Centre on May 17-18, 2012 with interment to follow at the Sion Doukhobor Cemetery. Grand Forks Funeral Home is in care of arrangements. Jerry Seminoff will be officiating.

Wiliam J. Bojey, long-time West Kootenay resident, passed away on May 09, 2012, in Nelson, BC, at the age of 101. Born February 28, 1911 in Kamsack Saskatchewan, to John and Polly Medvedoff (later renamed Bojey), William lived most of his life in BC. He is predeceased by his mother Polly in 1930, brother John in 1962, father John in 1975, his wife (of over 75 years) Helen in 2005. Survived by his children and their families: Verna and John Woikin; Bill and Mary Bojey; Harry and Margie Bojey; Elizaveta and Fred Makortoff; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces, and many other relatives.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Marianne of 51 years, his sons: Robert (Anna) of Bonney Lake, WA, Todd (Jennifer) of Sylvan Lake, AB; his grandchildren: Brittany, Brandon, Jenna and Cydnee; his brother Peter (Gail) of Grand Forks, BC, sister Olga (Don) Baron of Vernon and their families. Predeceased by his parents William and Molly, brother Harry and sister-in-law Elaine.

Predeceased by his parents, his sister Tania (Don Owens), his brother Johnny, and his brother Gus. He'll be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Maxine; and his children: Carrie (Dale Mader), Alan (Linda), Jill (Craig Harsany) and David (Melanie); and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Brooklyn, Lisa (Steve), Keri (Darren), Nicholas, Craig, Jordyn, Claye, Reese, Libby, Emmett, and great grandson, James.

Darcie was born February 6, 1951, and lived most of her life in Kelowna, where she enjoyed a very successful teaching career. She was predeceased by her father, Alex Hrischuk in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Hudson of Kelowna and son, Jerrod Hudson of Vancouver; her mother Helen Hrischuk of Kelowna; sisters Louise Norman of Kelowna and Cheryl (Rick) Quinton of Coquitlam; former spouse Dean Hudson of Grinrod; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, sister Helen, brother Nick, and in-laws, George and Polly Markin. Mike is survived by his wife Katherine; daughter Teresa (Bill) Walker, Malakwa, BC; son Rodney (Marie), Nakusp, BC; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sisters Ann (Vance) Essaunce and Lillian Potapoff.

julia perepolkinAfter a long, full life, Julia Perepelkin passed away just shy of her 92nd birthday at Abbotsford General Hospital, February 3, 2012 after a short battle with pneumonia. Born in Pass Creek, BC to Fred and Nastia Fillipoff, Julia made homes in Winlaw, Robson, and Castlegar before moving into care in Aldergrove. Predeceased by her parents, brothers John and Sam, husbands Pete Perepelkin and Mickit Nazarov, daughter-in-law Florence Perepelkin, granddaughter Larissa Perepelkin and grandson Keith Perepelkin, Julia is survived by her son Peter Perepelkin (Joy), daughters Evelyn Markin (Allan) and Teresa Verigin (Brent), and grandchildren Allison Markin, Quentin Markin (Heather) and Brenden Verigin.

A lifelong USCC member, her service took place at the Brilliant Cultural Centre, February 8, 2012, with interment at the Brilliant Doukhobor Cemetery; funeral arrangements by Castlegar Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the USCC or ISKRA would be gratefully accepted

Nick was born January 17, 1915 in Arron Saskatchewan to Nick and Polly (Malloff) Kurbatoff. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Mable (Zebroff) Kurbatoff and wife Anna (Vanjoff) Kurbatoff, sister Tina Esouloff and step-son Peter Sookochoff. Nick is survived by his children: Mary Dergousoff, Polly MacKenzie, John Kurbatoff, Mable Postnikoff, Violet Zaytsoff and their families and by his step-sons Mike Sookochoff and Alex Padmoroff and their families.

No funeral service by request. A private burial was held February 6, 2012 at the Sion Doukhobor Cemetery. Grand Forks Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

fred zibinFred Zibin of Castlegar, BC passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2012 at the age of 90. Born December 12, 1921 in Brilliant BC to Nikolai and Wasoonya Zibin, Fred lived in the Kootenays all his life. Well known in the area for his community efforts and leadership, he had a rich life with a large family and many close friends. Fred delighted in time with his family, managing the farm, singing, traveling the world, and carpentry. Fred is survived by 8 children; Fred Zibin, Nina Babakaiff, Monica Holloway, Serge Zibin, David Zibin, Emilia Brownlow, Lydia Zibin and Andrew Zibin and their families. He also had 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by wives Polly and Emily and survived by partner Tennette Sipko.

A funeral service was held Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Brilliant Cultural Centre. A family celebration of Fred’s life followed.

Lucy was born April 10, 1929 in Grand Forks, BC, to George and Molly Zebroff, and lived here all her life. She is predeceased by her first husband, Sam Waselenkoff, son, Bobby Waselenkoff, brothers Bill, John, George and Peter, and sister Mary Voykin. She is survived by her husband Max Dergousoff; sons Jerry and Clyde Waselenkoff; daughter Janice (Paul) Patterson; grandchildren: Danielle, Jim and Katie; great grandchildren: Julian, Noelle and Isabelle; and her twin sister Helen Hrischuk.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the USCC Community Centre in Grand Forks, followed by a memorial luncheon; Jerry Seminoff officiating. Cremation will take place; Grand Forks Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Nick Nevokshonoff of Krestova, BC passed away on January 27, 2012 at the Kootenay Lake and District Hospital in Nelson, BC at the age of 82. Nick was born on December 22, 1929, one of six children in the family of Nick and Helen Nevokshonoff, in Krestova, where he lived until suffering a major stroke, just two days before his passing. He is predeceased by his parents, four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife Polly; children, Jim (Veronica), Norman (Annette), Patsy (Max) Chernenkoff and Grace McCluskie; three grandsons, two granddaughters and three great granddaughters, as well as many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at the Krestova Community Hall on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:00 A.M., with burial to follow at the Krestova Cemetery; Sid Malakoff officiating.

Mike Strukoff of Grand Forks, BC passed away on January 8, 2012, at the Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks. He died on his 82nd birthday, in the loving presence of his family. Born in Grand Forks, BC on January 8, 1930, to Alex and Vera Strukoff, Mike married Viola (Pepin) in 1949. He is survived by his loving wife Viola, sons Michael (Marilyn) and Paul (Natalie) in Grand Forks, and Brian (Sherry) in Abbotsford, BC, six grandchildren, sisters Eilleen Popoff and Elizabeth Zwick and many other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at the USCC Community Centre in Grand Forks, on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM, with interment to follow at the Sion Doukhobor Cemetery nearby. Walter Soobotin of Grand Forks, BC passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 1, 2012, at the age of 77. Born in Grand Forks on February 11, 1934, third of five children in the family of George and Ann Soobotin, Walter lived all his life in Grand Forks, where he married Mary Swetlishoff and they raised two children. He is predeceased by his parents and his wife Mary (2004). He is survived by son Lorne (Debbie) Soobotin, daughter Debbie Hrooshkin, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, as well as brothers George and Charlie (Joyce) and sisters Zena Nevokshonoff and Polly (Paul) Pereverzoff, all of Grand Forks.

No funeral service by request. Cremation has taken place, entombment at Evergreen Cemetery; Grand Forks Funeral Home in care of arrangements. A family celebration of Walter’s life will take place in the summer. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted to the USCC Website
